Time to talk education
It’s back-to-school time. And it’s a good time to bring up the school calendar and to continue the discussion about when school starts.
A proposal to start school earlier in Faribault and Minnesota is gaining some traction. The proposal has a lot of merit and our local school district seems to be in support of it.

Living United takes work by everyone Live United. It's a short, kinda catchy phrase. Does it sound familiar? It may or it may not. Live United is the United Way's marketing/branding effort and it has real meaning. Just ask some local folks.

Through the Years (07/10) I got a call about Revolutionary War soldiers marching in Faribault’s 1858 July Fourth parade. That’s what the article said would happen, but it’s doubtful many showed up. Minimum age for enlistment wasn’t uniform among the colonies; in some it was 16. Still let’s say that in 1776 a 12 year old lad lied convincingly and was accepted: In 1858 he would have been 94. Apparently there is one Revolutionary veteran buried in Minnesota — near Winona. The inscription claims that Stephen Taylor (1757-1857) was “One of the Heroes of Ticonderoga,” but his participation in that battle (1777) has been questioned. Bob Neslund - 6 opinions posted |

Interested families and individuals may come to the church between 10 a.m. and noon. Distribution will be on a first-come, first-serve basis until the food is gone.
