Vosejpka places first for photos
The Minnesota Professional Photographers Association is proud to announce that Debbie Vosejpka, owner of Cherished Moments Photography, recently photographed four first-place winning entries into the statewide Fresh Faces Portrait Contest/Model Search. This contest was held March 1-31 and was sponsored by the MNPPA and judged by the Moore Talent Agency in Minneapolis. Various cash prizes were awarded in each age category to the families for first, second and third place.

Meyer promoted in Premier Design Jewelry
Anne Shaffer Meyer, independent distributor of Premier Design Jewelry, has been recognized and promoted to Designer Level Leadership. The promotion is based on involvement in leadership training, successful home shows and sponsorship of new distributors. Meyer was a guest of founders Joan and Andy Horner, with a four-day expense paid trip to Haven of Hope in Denton, Texas, national headquarters of Premier Designs High Fashion Jewelry and the home of Mr. And Mrs. Horner.

Edward Jones named best place to work
The financial services firm Edward Jones was named one of the best places to work in information technology in Computerworld 17th annual “100 Best Places to Work in IT 2010” survey.

Grants made
Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, through its north Rice County chapter, has made five grants totaling $4,200 to local individuals and nonprofit groups to be used for humanitarian or community-development purposes.

One of the largest antique stores in Rice County is just a block off Faribault’s Central Avenue, but Bob Jones, one of the proprietors of Grumpy’s Antiques in the Peterson Art Furniture Building, says that people come down here all the time and say, “Gee, I didn’t know you were here!” or “We didn’t know you were open at this time.”

USDA Rural Development recognizes new homeowners
Raymond Bauernfeind never thought he would be able to own his own home. With the help of USDA Rural Development’s direct home loan program and a lot of hard work and determination, Bauernfeind recently purchased his first home in Faribault.
