May we have more, please?
We worked with Minnesota Public Radio on a story about how arts organizations all over the state are being forced to think outside the box to raise more money in a tough economy.
Paradise Center for the Arts is no different. It is hosting more off-beat events (ComedySportz, Kentucky Derby-themed Big Hats&Big Hearts), has structured its hours to potentially draw in more people already downtown and is making much more of a concerted effort to fill the theater with interesting acts between plays.
More of the same was the formula for failure. We’re pleased to see that jettisoned in favor of some diversity and flavor in the Paradise’s offerings.
One for the books
How does one steal a 48-foot long semi-trailer?
That’s the question we’re plagued with after Jean Conklin stopped in the Daily News’ office the other day to report the trailer, which held most of her and her husband’s belongings as they underwent a renovation on a home they’d recently purchased.
Faribault Police Capt. Neal Pederson said he’s never seen a case like this in his career. Thankfully, the police have some good leads and hopefully will solve this case soon. But we have to wonder if a 48-foot long semi-trailer is possible to steal without drawing anyone’s attention, what is impossible to steal?
Faribault.com reminder
Starting Monday, visitors to our site will no longer be able to post comments anonymously and have their posts show up immediately on the site.

But anyone who wants to know their real name will be able click on their screen name and find out. Those who wish to remain anonymous, can, but their posts will go into a pending queue where they will have to be approved before going up on the site.
We hope this makes the conversation on faribault.com even more vibrant and thoughtful.
