Preventing penalties: Coalition aims to keep alcohol out of the hands of those under 21
The Rice County Chemical Health Coalition offers monthly alcohol awareness training informing participants on subjects related to the importance of the training, penalties for providing alcohol to minors, compliance checks, identification issues and tools to help a bartender, server or liquor store cashier. 
Man charged for sexual assault, beating
A Faribault man is accused of sexually assaulting his ex-girlfriend while their 1-year-old son was in the same bed, according to charges filed yesterday in Rice County District Court. Santos Agusto Arevalo, 29, was charged with two felony counts of criminal sexual conduct, a felony count of domestic assault by strangulation and two misdemeanor domestic assaults.
Airfest awarded: Event takes home international recognition for marketing
Faribault’s Airfest Board of Directors are working to plan the September 2009 event as its members celebrate winning awards at the recent International Council of Air Shows (ICAS) convention in Las Vegas for its efforts to market last year’s show.
